Bio-informational energy explores the relationships between signals generated during interactions among various parts of the body. In 1975, Dr. Voll developed the Electroacupuncture according to Voll (EAV) device to measure the body’s bio-electric energy by observing changes in electrical resistance in organs. He discovered over 250 measurable points on the skin that closely correspond to acupuncture points in Traditional Chinese Medicine, indirectly verifying that meridians function as energetic pathways—conducting electricity throughout the body.
Echoing TCM’s understanding, meridians connect the internal organs with limbs and tissues, and acupoints are focal areas where qi gathers and flows. When the body undergoes pathological changes, measurable differences occur at corresponding acupoints in skin temperature, electrical potential, and resistance. These changes provide valuable data for diagnosing illnesses.
In 2011, a research team at Tufts University in the U.S. discovered that cell membrane voltage can influence a cell’s behavior—not through chemical signals, but via electrical signaling. This supports the principle that meridian-based energy fields and bio-informational energy, carried through qi and blood, can be used for early diagnosis and treatment by transmitting signals and energy to the organs and cells.
